Ronnie Lott was born on May 8, 1959 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. From early on it was obvious that Lott was going to be a great athlete. He had all of the physical skills of a top notch player, while also combining this with plenty of knowledge of the game. To this day Lott is still remembered for the hard hits that he used to lay on opponent’s game in and game out.

The ink isn’t even dry yet on the 2008 NFL Draft and word is already getting around that Percy Harvin should be looking at a nice, comfortable spot in the 2009 draft. Odds are he’ll be ready.
Harvin has been considered one of the best two-position players right out of high school in 2006. He is quick – he ran the 40 yard dash in 4.3 seconds – and he is strong, a great rusher and a player who will not give in or back down. (more…)

Matt Hasselbeck was born on September 25, 1975 in Westwood, Massachusetts. At 6 foot 4 inches and weighing 220 pounds, Hasselbeck is the perfect size for a top notch NFL quarterback. To go along with his size, he also has one of the smartest minds when it comes to quarterbacks. Deion Sanders was born on August 9, 1967 in Fort Myers, Florida. Ever since his early playing days it was obvious that he was going to be a great performer in one sport of the other. Not only did Sanders play a great game of football, but he was also a solid performer in Major League Baseball for several seasons. This has led to him being known as one of the greatest two sport athletes of all time.

Well the 2009 NFL draft is over with and the Oakland Raiders sure made a lot of people including myself scratch their head. It is clearly evident that Al Davis values nothing more than speed when evaluating players. Sure, Darius Heyward-Bey ran the fastest 40 time at the combine but what does that really prove? Torry Holt was born on June 5, 1976 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Although Holt is not as big and fast as some of the other wide receivers in the NFL, he has displayed his top notch skills for many years. Known to many as the nickname “Big Game” this suits him well. It is safe to say that if his team needs a big catch that he will come up with it in one way or the other.

Walter Payton was born on July 25, 1954 and passed away on November 1, 1999. But even though Payton is no longer living, one thing is for sure. Football fans from all over the world will always remember him as one of the greatest running backs of all time. Not only did he have all of the right moves on the field, but off the field Payton was also a joy to be around. It was this reputation that captivated fans and other players for many years.

For the last 9 out of 11 years, and 18 out of 24 years, there have been Florida Gators picked in the first round of the NFL Draft. This year is no exception. Earlier today, Derrick Harvey was picked in the first round for 2008. Derrick is the 45th player to be picked in the first round, for this decade, tying the 1990’s record for the most players picked.
